Remove Empty Directories or RED for short, is a program that can search your hard drive for folders that are empty and remove them. This can have a big impact on your disk space. The first time I ran this little gem I saved almost a full Gig of space! (Yes, that is a lot! See this post to see a breakdown)
You can download RED here –> Remove Empty Directories <–
There are not too many settings to set up and this will mostly be based on personal preference. For example, I have mine set to just send them to the recycle bin. Here are my settings if you would like to do this as well;
This is a REALLY handy program to have and it is freeware,meaning the author does not charge for this program. It is free. If you like it then please drop the author an email and let him know.
These are just some things I have found to be extremely useful with my websites. I hope they do the same for you!

Have you ever noticed that when using Google’s Chrome browser that your PC starts to get REALLY slow? It’s a real P.I.T.A. The reasoning behind this is that the developer, Google, wanted to make the browser faster when you open and close it often. The way this is done is through processes that run in the background when you are using your computer. When things are running in the “background” they are ‘hidden’ from the screen and you don’t really pay attention to them unless you, like me, want to know why and what the heck is going on.
This is how you shut this off.
First click on the 3 little dots at the top right just under the X to close the browser.
When the menu opens, click on Settings.
Then, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on Advanced.
Scroll down until you see the System header and then turn off the option ‘Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed.’
Now close and reopen the browser. Chrome will now close all processes when you close the browser.
